Advantages

Many advantages when drying and heating...

Time Saving
Regardless of whether drying is done in a continuous drier or a batch drier, considerably shorter drying time can be expected. The microwaves effectively penetrate the surface and heat deep into the material. Exactly how much faster drying is done by microwaves varies. One extreme is wood where, when drying with microwaves, only the same number of hours is needed as the number of days that would have been needed with conventional methods.

Better Quality
In most cases a better quality of the product is achieved. The product is dried more evenly and the risk of warping, cracking etc. is reduced and hence the number of rejections.

Energy Saving
The energy consumption is reduced by using microwave energy technology. The high efficiency rate and the fast process save energy.

Space Saving
Drying plants are generally bulky and long, and hence occupy large floor areas. Drying with microwave energy technology occupies considerably less space, which makes more factory floor available that would otherwise have been needed for drying.

Spares the Environment
Lower energy consumption means less stress on the environment. Compared with heating with gas and oil, heating with electricity does not cause any pollution at the plant and the plant itself does not add to the greenhouse effect.

Improved Work Environment
Drying with microwaves is done without annoying noise, excess heat or polluting exhausts. The low sound level is striking, especially when compared with a oil or gas burner.

Some Frequently Asked Questions

Is investing in microwave energy technology expensive?
When the demands for good quality are high or when producing highly processed products microwave energy technology is very competitive. For instance, an investment in microwave energy technology can save a lot of money if the alternative is to extend the factory building in order to accommodate a conventional oven.

Is the technology  thoroughly  tested?

Gisip started working with microwave energy technology back in 1982 and is today one of the most experienced companies in Sweden. Gisip has supplied microwave energy equipment to companies, both in Sweden and in other countries, within several different lines of business. Within the manufacture industry more and more applications where microwave energy technology can be used are still being discovered.

How am I to know the technology will work in my line of business?

Gisip offers extensive possibilities to test different applications in Gisip Microwave Center. Thanks to this facility you never have to undertake a large investment without knowledge of whether the technology is well suited for your application. You may reserve half a day or a whole day for trial!

What about reliability?

The plants delivered by Gisip generally have a very high reliability of service. The plants are based on a system of many small magnetrons which is a warranty for high reliability.

As the magnetrons are so many, often several hundred, it does not matter a lot if one of them need to be replaced - the process can continue without interruption. The magnetrons, which have a service life of about half a year, and other replaceable parts are standard components. Those are available directly from stock.

Are there any safety hazards?

The only injuries that can be caused by microwaves are heating injuries, or burns, in the same way as if you would put a hand on a hot hot plate of a stove.

Gisip's designs eliminate the risk of burns. In our driers and ovens the microwaves are effectively enclosed by a casing of aluminium, which is a shielding material. In the continuous driers there are microwave traps at the entrance and at the exit of the conveyor which ensures that the microwaves are kept within the machine.

In addition, all Gisip's products are tested by independent test institutions on taking into commission.
